Past Lives of Neale Donald Walsch
|
The observation that people have the same facial features from lifetime to lifetime has been corroborated in many other independently researched reincarnation cases, many of which are featured on this website, such as the cases of neurosurgeon Norm Shealy, Police Captain Robert Snow, Fire Chief Jeff Keene, author William Barnes and the very important case of Barbro Karlen/Anne Frank.
Let me now explain how two past lives for Neale Donald Walsch were derived. This story begins in October 2000, when a friend of mine advised that I should learn about John Hagelin, PhD, a physicist and leader in the Transcendental Meditation movement, which was founded by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who some may recall, served as the guru to the Beatles. In 2000, Dr. Hagelin was running for President of the United States under the Natural Law Party and many leaders of progressive spirituality, such as Deepak Chopra, Marianne Williamson and Neale Donald Walsch, were supporting Dr. Hagelin in his bid for the Presidency.

At the time, I was researching a cohort reincarnated from the time of the American Revolution. When I first saw Dr. Hagelin on television, I instantly recognized him as James Otis, a genius and leader of the Patriot cause in Revolutionary Boston.
When I learned that Marianne Williamson was a friend and supporter of Dr. Hagelin, I wondered if she too was part of the American Revolution. Though Marianne is best known for her inspirational books regarding A Course in Miracles, she also authored Healing the Soul of America, a political work. This was the first book of Marianne’s that I had ever read. By the time I had reached the fifth page, I realized that I had encountered this writing style, filled with lyricism and passion in every paragraph, before.

At that moment, an “intuitive hammer” hit me over the head, as the recognition dawned upon me that this was the voice of Abigail Adams. I knew the writing style well, having been immersed in the Adams correspondence for several years. Healing the Soul of America, though, did not feature an image of Marianne and as such, I had no idea whether facial features corresponded. I quickly found Marianne’s photograph in other books and observed that the facial architecture of Marianne Williamson and Abigail Adams did match. As I learned more about Marianne, I also saw the spirit of Abigail within her.
I then learned that Marianne was a close friend of Neale Donald Walsch and that together, they co founded the Global Renaissance Alliance. As mentioned above, Neale and Marianne both supported John Hagelin in his run for the Presidency. Since I knew that people incarnate in soul groups and since Abigail Adams and James Otis had both lived in Boston during the American Revolution, it was logical that Neale should have been incarnate in Boston during Revolutionary times too. I had no hypothesis, though, regarding who Neale might have been.
This is where Kevin Ryerson enters the picture. In October 2001, I had my first session with Kevin. I had gone to him to see if the past life matches that I had been working on, including my proposed match as John Adams, could be validated. Though I had been conducting the reincarnation research since 1996 and believed that most of the past life matches I had formulated were accurate, I was still fearful of coming out in public with the information. I knew that if the information was true, then it could serve humanity in an important and beneficent way. Still, I was a physician making a good living and I did not want to jeopardize my situation by promoting false information. Most of all, I did not want to go running around publicly claiming to be the reincarnation of John Adams if I wasn’t John Adams.
I learned that Kevin Ryerson, as a trance channel, allowed spirit beings to utilize his body to communicate with humans. In this capacity, Kevin jokes that as a channel, he serves as a “human telephone,” connecting the spirit world with the human race.
The spirit guide that came through Kevin, as I asked questions regarding reincarnation, was Ahtun Re, who evolved through a series of human lifetimes and then Ascended, like Jesus, Buddha and other Masters. Ahtun Re’s last incarnation, he has explained, was in Egypt, during the time of Pharaoh Akhenaton (1379-1362 BC), who is known as the “Father of Monotheism.” Ahtun Re served as a High Priest and advisor to Akhenaton and as such, Ahtun Re’s last incarnation occurred approximately 3350 years ago.
Speaking to an Egyptian spirit guide that has been dead for over 3000 years was a novel experience for me. I was open mined but skeptical and in the beginning, I did not assume that Ahtun Re was accurate. Like any reasonable person, and especially since my background is in science, I needed evidence to be convinced that Ahtun Re produced valid information.
Initially, I reviewed the list of almost 60 past life matches that I had hypothesized and Ahtun Re confirmed about 85 percent, indicating that 15 percent were not accurate matches. Ahtun Re did validate the matches for Abigail Adams/Marianne Williamson and James Otis/John Hagelin, as well as my own case.

I then asked Ahtun Re about people, such as Neale Donald Walsch, for whom I did not have a hypothesized past life match. Ahtun Re told me that Neale was indeed incarnate in Boston during the American Revolution, that he was a minister known to James Otis and John and Abigail Adams, that he was a Freemason and that his name was Reverend Walter or Walters. Having this information, I did research to see if such a person actually existed. I found no mention of Reverend Walter in history books. After a few months, though, I found Reverend William Walter through the New England Historic Genealogical Society of Boston, Massachusetts.
Reverend William Walter was indeed a friend of James Otis and he even supported Otis in procuring a higher rank in the colonial military, much as Neale had assisted John Hagelin in his bid for political office. Reverend Walter was also a close friend of John and Abigail Adams. When they were all in London, Reverend Walter visited the Adamses. Reverend Walter is discussed in the diary of John Adams and an entry regarding Reverend Walter, with past life matches provided in brackets, is provided below. John Adams writes:
“Spent this Evening at Wheelwrights, with Parson Williams of Sandwich. . . . Williams took up the whole Evening with Stories about Coll. Otis and his Son the Major [John Hagelin]. The Major [John Hagelin] employed . . . Parson Walter [Neale Donald Walsch] to represent him to the Governor as a Friend to Government, in order to get the Commission of Lieutenant Colonel. The Major [John Hagelin] has Liberty written over his Manufactory House. . . . Col Otis reads to large Circles of the common People, Allens Oration on the beauties of Liberty and recommends it as an excellent Production.”
I later found a portrait of Reverend William Walter in the Virginia Historical Society and found that the facial features of Reverend Walter and Neale Donald Walsch matched quite nicely, especially in regards to the shape of the eyes and orbital areas around the eyes, and the uniquely shaped nose.
In reading about Reverend Walter, I found that he, like Neale Donald Walsch, was involved in progressive spirituality, for Reverend Walter was indeed a Freemason, as Ahtun Re said he was. Further, I found that Reverend Walter, in a sermon, lectured on extraterrestrial life, much as Neale Donald Walsch writes about ETs in Conversations with God, Book 3. An excerpt from this sermon of Reverend Walter, in which he describes creation, is provided below:
“He speaks, and behold! those Suns which appear so magnificent in the great Concave, instantly exist; Suns which the Eye of an Herschel or a Newton . . . is unable to number: He commands, and behold! those Suns are surrounded with Planets, and their concomitant Satellites, prepared with all the Accommodations for embodied Spirits. It is not improbable that the Inhabitants of those countless Worlds which roll incessantly around their central fires, forming Systems beyond Systems, are endued with different Degrees of Intellect, and different Modes of attaining that Happiness for which they were made.”
In time, I sent information to Neale Donald Walsch regarding the reincarnation cases of Abigail Adams/Marianne Williamson, James Otis/John Hagelin and Reverend William Walter/Neale Donald Walsch, and I asked Neale if he would agree to be in my book. I was delighted when Neale telephoned me, relating that he thought there was something to the matches. Neale agreed to be included in Return of the Revolutionaries as the reincarnation of Reverend William Walter.
I found the case of Reverend William Walter/Neale Donald Walsch extremely significant as it seemed to validate that Ahtun Re was indeed a spirit who could make accurate past life matches. My reasoning was as follows:
Further, in my early work with Kevin Ryerson, Ahtun Re solved a number of other reincarnation cases where I had no hypothesis regarding a proposed match. Kevin and I refer to these matches as “cold hits,” in which Ahtun Re provides the past life match without any assistance or prompting on my part. When the match made by Ahtun Re is then researched I find that it appears accurate, in that facial features, personality traits, interests and karmic grouping all are consistent. Cold hit cases featured on this web site include:
Charles Thomson/Ralph Nader: This is an exceptional case in that, as in the Walter/Walsch case, the portrait of Charles Thomson utilized is very obscure and required a great deal of research to find. Personality traits and values of Thomson and Nader are so consistent that an entire chapter is devoted to this case in Return of the Revolutionaries. Passages written by Thomson are compared to passages authored by Nader, demonstrating an uncanny similarity in thought.
David Rittenhouse/Carl Sagan: In this case, I initially came to the conclusion that Ahtun Re must have been wrong when he told me that Rittenhouse had reincarnated as Sagan. At the time of the session with Kevin, I had read that Rittenhouse had helped edit Thomas Paine’s pamphlet, Common Sense, which was all that I knew about Rittenhouse. When Ahtun Re told me that Rittenhouse reincarnated as Carl Sagan, I reflected that this didn’t make any sense. Since people usually pursue similar interests across lifetimes, it was inconsistent that a little known political revolutionary would become a world famous astronomer. Upon further research, I later learned that Rittenhouse was America’s first astronomer, that he manufactured the first telescope in America, that he created a prototype planetarium which accurately depicted the solar system and that he had the same face as Carl Sagan. This case further reinforced my growing appreciation that Ahtun Re truly was capable of making accurate past life matches.
James Wilson/Oprah Winfrey: When Ahtun Re told me that Oprah was a Signer of the Declaration named James Wilson, I didn’t even know who Wilson was. With a little investigation, I found that Wilson was indeed a Signer who shares many personality traits with Oprah, including have a gift for oration, a love of books and a knack for making money. I found that facial bone structure was also consistent. This case demonstrates that one can change gender and race from one incarnation to another. In my work with Kevin over the years, Ahtun Re has solved literally dozens and dozens of “cold hit” type cases, where without being given a hypothesized match, Ahtun Re solves a reincarnation case which when researched, demonstrates matching facial features, personality traits, linguistic style and appropriate karmic grouping. This is why I have confidence in Ahtun Re’s abilities. Other cases of this type, cold hits solved through Ahtun Re, which are featured in Return of the Revolutionaries include: Charles Dickens/J.K. Rowling: Ahtun Re revealed that one of the greatest novelists of the nineteenth century, Charles Dickens, has reincarnated as one of the greatest novelists of contemporary times, J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series.
Kate Fox/John Edward: Kate Fox is considered a founder of Spiritualism in America. Ahtun Re revealed that Fox has reincarnated as John Edward, who brought Spiritualism, that is, communication with the deceased, to prime time television.
Charles Babbage/Steve Jobs: Ahtun Re told me that Babbage invented the “Analytic Engine,” which I later learned was a precursor to the computer. Babbage reincarnated as Steve Jobs, a cofounder of Apple Computer, to continue his work.
Peter van Musschenbroek/Steve Wozniak: Musschenbroek collaborated with Ben Franklin on electrical experiments and reincarnated as Steve Wozniak, an electrical engineer and another founder of Apple Computer. In this case, not only do facial features match, but very unique habitual hand gestures are shown to carry through from one lifetime to another.
Anton Mesmer/Jon Kabat-Zinn: Mesmer was a physician who brought mesmerism, or hypnosis to the world, while Jon Kabat-Zinn has introduced Mindfullness Meditation to the medical community.

Let us now move onto another proposed past lifetime for Neale Donald Walsch, which was discovered quite unexpectedly. The Association for Research and Enlightenment (ARE) is an organization dedicated to preserving the work of Edgar Cayce, the most famous of American trance mediums. I was researching a past lifetime for a prominent member of this organization, Mark Thurston, who Kevin Ryerson’s guide, Ahtun Re, told me was an associate of Andrew Jackson Davis. Davis was a well known clairvoyant of the nineteenth century. As part of my research, I ordered a number of books by Davis, including his autobiography, The Magic Staff.
As I started reading books written by Davis, I became aware that I was familiar with the writing style and in particular, the manner in which punctuation was utilized. Semicolons, commas and dashes were used to create complex, yet beautifully flowing sentences. I pondered for several minutes, thinking to myself, “Where have I seen this linguistic style before?” The answer came to me. I realized it was reminiscent of the style of Conversations with God.
I quickly looked at the portrait of Andrew Jackson Davis featured in The Magic Staff and realized that the facial features of Davis matched the facial features of Neale Donald Walsch. I looked at the portrait of Mary Davis, the second wife of Andrew Jackson Davis, and realized that Mary’s facial features matched the features of Nancy Walsch, Neale’s wife. In a subsequent session with Kevin Ryerson, Ahtun Re confirmed that Neale Donald Walsch is the reincarnation of Andrew Jackson Davis and that Nancy is the reincarnation of Mary Davis.

So as in the case of Abigail Adams/Marianne Williamson, it was the recognition of a common linguistic writing style that led to the identification of this past lifetime for Neale Donald Walsch. This match was then supported by the discovery of matching facial features and appropriate karmic grouping, followed by confirmation of the match by Kevin Ryerson’s spirit guide, Ahtun Re.
Please note that in the case of John B. Gordon/Jeff Keene, a formal linguistic analysis was performed by a university professor which demonstrated that writing structure is consistent in the lives of Gordon and Keene. This analysis is provided as Appendix A in Return of the Revolutionaries. In the future, linguistic analysis will be an important tool used in assessing and validating reincarnation cases.
So who was Andrew Jackson Davis? Davis was born in 1826 and as a young boy, heard voices which seemed to give him useful advice. As such, Davis had a natural talent for clairaudience. Later on, Davis was hypnotized by a traveling showman, which served to increase his clairvoyant abilities. Davis eventually became an author of spiritual books whose titles include The Great Harmonia and Principles of Nature, Her Divine Revelations, and a Voice to Mankind. Please note that there are similarities in phrases of book titles authored by Davis and Walsch. Davis uses the phrase, Her Divine Revelations, while Neale has a book entitled The New Revelations. Also note that the book title phrase, Voice to Mankind, is has a theme similar to Conversations with God, in which the voice of God is being transmitted to the rest of humanity.

In a session with Kevin Ryerson, I asked Ahtun Re whether Neale Donald Walsch truly converses with God, as claimed in his book series. For those who are not familiar with Conversations with God, it is in a way a channeled work, in which answers to Neale’s questions were dictated to him, which he hand wrote on paper. The dictated messages went to the publisher unedited, which supports the premise that the source of the material is quite extraordinary. Ahtun Re told me that yes; in essence, Neale Donald Walsch did converse with God in writing his books, but Ahtun Re noted that we all have this capability. Neale Donald Walsch concurs with this statement, that we all have the capacity to converse with God. Ahtun Re even identified a special part of our spiritual anatomy used for this purpose and noted that in people such as Mr. Walsch, this capacity is more highly developed.
People who have this ability are often called prophets and it is my opinion that future generations will look back to Neale Donald Walsch and refer to him as a prophet of our era, much as Edgar Cayce and Andrew Jackson Davis were seen as prophets of their time.
I thank my good friends Kevin Ryerson and Ahtun Re, for their assistance in bringing this understanding to light.
Why have the Revolutionaries Returned?
I am often asked why have figures from the American Revolution returned today? The answer involves a few complexities. First of all, leaders from the American Revolution have had interim lifetimes. We have seen from many cases, including two researched by Ian Stevenson, MD, that people can reincarnate quickly, almost continually. As such, it is not that the Revolutionaries are back at this time for one special event, rather, at this time, we have developed a method to identify these figures from the American Revolution, as well as figures reincarnated from other historical eras.
Secondly, reincarnated leaders of the American Revolution can have differing philosophies and agendas in contemporary times, just as they had different views in the Revolutionary era. George W. Bush, Ralph Nader and Bill Clinton have all been identified as leaders of the American Revolution, but they are not unified in contemporary times regarding political beliefs.
There is a segment of the soul group reincarnated from the time of the American Revolution, though, that does appear to be unified in purpose. That purpose is to bring in a New Spirituality, as Neale Donald Walsch calls it, which will bring greater peace to the world. Neale Donald Walsch, obviously, is part of this Revolutionary group, as is Kevin Ryerson, and these gentlemen have been pioneers in creating a more enlightened type of spirituality.
I myself am trying to create a more peaceful world through objective evidence of reincarnation, which demonstrates that we can change gender, race, religion and ethnic affiliation from lifetime to lifetime, which has enormous implications regarding world peace. Consider that Anne Frank was persecuted as a Jew, while Barbro Karlen, the reincarnation of Anne Frank, was born into a Christian family. Please take a moment to review the very important case of Barbro Karlen/Anne Frank.
John Hagelin is part of this soul group and his work involves Transcendental Mediation, as well as the formation of a US Peace Government. Dennis Kucinich, who in Return of the Revolutionaries is identified as another Signer of the Declaration, James Lovell, and Marianne Williamson, are also reincarnated revolutionaries that are advocates for peace. Together, they are working to create a cabinet level Department of Peace in the US government.
![]() |
Of interest, the first person to propose a US Department of Peace was Benjamin Rush, a chemist, physician, Signer of the Declaration and good friend of John and Abigail Adams. In contemporary times, in Return of the Revolutionaries, Benjamin Rush is identified as Kary Mullis, PhD, a chemist and winner of the Nobel Prize for inventing Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), a chemical reaction that underlies DNA fingerprinting, which has also been instrumental in mapping of the human genome.
![]() |
Julia Rush, the wife of Benjamin Rush, has reincarnated as Nancy Mullis, Kary’s wife. If these cases are accepted, they demonstrate, once again, how couples can reincarnate and be reunited across incarnations.
Since people have similar facial features, personality traits and even linguistic writing style from lifetime to lifetime, I have wondered whether it may be possible to prove reincarnation through DNA analysis or other biochemical or biophysical test. The premise is that the soul somehow programs our DNA or influences the expression of our DNA. This concept, that environmental factors, including the soul, can affect the expression of genes is currently being forwarded by Bruce Lipton, PhD, a biochemist who has taught at the University of Wisconsin and at Stanford, and who is the author of The Biology of Belief. Identifying Kary Mullis, the inventor of PCR and a pioneering geneticist, as the reincarnation of Benjamin Rush is intriguing in this light. Perhaps someday, Dr. Mullis and Dr. Lipton can help us solve the riddle of how the soul interfaces with the body, so that facial features, mannerisms and linguistic style remain similar from one incarnation to another.
To further reincarnation research, Kevin Ryerson and I, Walter Semkiw, MD, along with Michael Tamura, who directed the Berkeley Psychic Institute for 18 years, Dale Ironson, PhD, a research psychologist and former university professor and Wayne Peterson, a retired US Diplomat and former Director of the Fulbright Scholarship Program, have formed IISIS, the Institute for the Integration of Science, Intuition and Spirit.
One goal of IISIS is to prove reincarnation through scientific methods. By proving reincarnation and by better understanding of the mechanics of reincarnation, it is our vision that the world will become a more peaceful and joyful place. By knowing that we can reincarnate into any religion, race, ethnic group or socioeconomic status, we will be motivated to live without conflict and to eliminate poverty. By knowing that karma is real and that we truly are accountable for our deeds, we will live in a more conscientious way.
Knowing for a fact that we reincarnate, a New Psychology of Being will be developed. Rather than being taught divergent, guilt driven theologies which separate us, children will be taught that they have been with their family members in past lives and that they will be together again in future lives. We will be taught that the purpose of life is to evolve, to love and to experience Earth life as an opportunity for expression. Established religions will need to incorporate reincarnation and this New Psychology of Being into their doctrines. Only when this occurs, will peace truly reign on Earth.
