The Relationship between Barack Obama and Abraham Lincoln In the months preceding the presidential election of 2008, several people contacted me and suggested that Barack Obama is the reincarnation of Abraham Lincoln. I believe there are several reasons for this hypothesis. One is that Obama is very eloquent and due to speeches such as the Gettysburg Address, Lincoln is perceived as having been eloquent. With their words, both men are associated with great ideals. Secondly, as he is a candidate of mixed race, with his father black and his mother white, a presidential victory for Obama would symbolize in a very real way the ultimate victory of the civil rights movement over slavery and segregation. A victory for Obama would symbolize a victory for Lincoln, in the minds of many. Though I do admire both men immensely, to be honest, the proposed match between Lincoln and Obama didn’t ring true for me, as they strike me as different personalities. Nonetheless, in a session with Kevin Ryerson, I asked Ahtun Re whether Obama is the reincarnation of Lincoln. Briefly, though I approach reincarnation research as a scientist and a skeptic, I found that Ahtun Re, a spirit guide channeled through Kevin Ryerson, could make past life matches that appeared to be accurate. I was particularly convinced by cases where Ahtun Re gave me past life information involving very obscure individuals, which took a great deal of research to locate historically. When I did find historical information, facial features, personality traits, passions and talents all matched. This occurred in the cases of Neale Donald Walsh, Ralph Nader and many, many others. I realized that Ahtun Re’s fund of knowledge was beyond what was possible for Kevin Ryerson to know and I came to the conclusion that Ahtun Re is a spirit entity separate from Kevin who has the ability to access what some call Universal Mind or the Akashic Records. Ahtun Re told me that Obama is not the reincarnation of Lincoln, but that he was closely associated with Lincoln. Further, Ahtun Re told me that I would find Obama in the era of the Civil War by studying US senators involved in the impeachment trial of Andrew Johnson. Obama, Ahtun Re told me, was a well known senator who voted against impeachment. At the time, I knew very little about Andrew Johnson or his trial. Andrew Johnson was Lincoln’s vice-president who assumed the presidency after Lincoln’s assassination. His term was during the period of Reconstruction, in which the nation tried to rebuild the South and reintegrate the Union following the Civil War. Conflicts arose between President Johnson and Edwin Stanton, the Secretary of War, and Johnson eventually sought to remove Stanton from office. In addition, what were termed “Radical Republicans” sought greater political power for the North over the South, in the years following the Civil War. The Radical Republicans wanted the South to pay a price for the war, as opposed to Johnson, who favored a more moderate approach towards the South. A political showdown ensued which led to a resolution for impeachment, which ultimately failed. In studying senators involved in Johnson’s impeachment trial who voted again impeachment, there was one person who fit the bill of being close to Abraham Lincoln. This individual was a senator from Illinois, the same state that Lincoln represented and the same state that Barack Obama represents now. This individual was Lyman Trumbull, who was also the principle author of the Thirteenth Amendment, which put an end to slavery in the United States. In addition to being a close associate of Lincoln’s, I also observed the Trumbull’s facial features are similar to those of Barack Obama. In a subsequent session with Kevin Ryerson, Ahtun Re confirmed that Obama is the reincarnation of Lyman Trumbull.
Lyman Trumbull lived in Springfield, Illinois, as did Abraham Lincoln. When Trumbull married Julia Jayne in 1843, Mary Todd Lincoln, Lincoln’s wife, was a bridesmaid. Trumbull became involved in politics and was elected to several offices, including the Illinois House of Representatives, Secretary of State and as a justice of the Illinois Supreme Court. In 1855, Trumbull became a US Senator as a member of the Democratic Party. Trumbull’s antislavery views, though, conflicted with the views of his party. Along with Lincoln, Trumbull joined the newly formed Republican Party and he supported Lincoln’s successful 1858 bid to become a US Senator. A letter from Lincoln to Trumbull, written on April 29, 1860, just before Lincoln became the Republican candidate for president, can be accessed online here: Letter from Lincoln When Lincoln became President of the United States, Trumbull supported his efforts to keep the Union together. He later supported the Union cause in the Civil War. Trumbull served on the US Senate Judiciary committee from 1861 to 1872. As chairman of the committee, he was the principal author of the Thirteenth Amendment, which was passed in 1864 and formally ended slavery under the US Constitution. Abraham Lincoln was assassinated on April 14, 1865. Vice President Andrew Johnson became the US President on April 15, 1865. The Civil War ended in May 1865. As noted, Andrew Johnson’s term was a turbulent one and an impeachment trial against Johnson started on March 13, 1868. Impeachment was sought by the Radical Republicans who sided with Edwin Stanton and who sought greater power of the North over the South in the aftermath of the war. Trumbull is noted to have acted with integrity in voting against impeachment. Due to the move to impeach Johnson, Trumbull left the Republican Party and rejoined the Democrats. In an obituary written for Lyman Trumbull, it is stated that Trumbull had great power over juries with his words. Trumbull’s oratory skills seem to have reemerged in the persona of Barack Obama, whose poetic speeches now move millions. Karmic Ties People incarnate in karmic soul groups. Families can reincarnate together and couples often reunite from one incarnation to another. Politicians from one era tend to reincarnate together again, as described in my book, Return of the Revolutionaries A political cohort of Trumbull and Lincoln has reincarnated in the persona of Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards. Edwards has been confirmed by Ahtun Re to have been Senator Edmund Ross in a prior incarnation, who was also involved in the impeachment trial of Andrew Johnson. Ross represented the state of Kansas and he cast the deciding vote against impeachment. A past lifetime of another 2008 presidential candidate, John McCain, was previously identified, though he lived in an era preceeding that of Lincoln, Trumbull and Ross. McCain has been confirmed, through Ahtun Re, to have been the great Senator Henry Clay. Interesting, Clay was a guiding light of the "War Hawk" faction of the Twelfth Congress, which advocated military action against Britain in the War of 1812. In was at this time that the term "hawk" was coined to indicate a person with a pro war stance. Accordingly, as Henry Clay, McCain was one of the original "hawks" and he continues to advocate a position of military strength and the use of force to achieve desired ends. Landmark Past-Life Associations It is interesting that many people have speculated that Obama may be the reincarnation of Lincoln. If the case of Lyman Trumbull/Barack Obama is accepted, we see that the lives of Lincoln and Trumbull/Obama were closely intertwined. I call such erroneous past life matches “landmark associations,” in that the more famous individual serves as a landmark for the incarnation of an individual who is less well known. Landmark associations happen frequently when people, even professional psychics, have intuitions regarding past life identities. As an example, a psychic may tell a client that they have a connection with Cleopatra, that the client may even have been Cleopatra, when in actuality the client was an advisor or servant to Cleopatra. Race and Reincarnation There are other cases where race is observed to change from one incarnation to another. One very important case involves Oprah Winfrey, who has been identified as the reincarnation of James Wilson, a Caucasian leader of the American Revolution and Signer of the Declaration of Independence. Wilson also loved books, as does Oprah, and he taught English literature at the University of Philadelphia. Of interest, Wilson invested in frontier land that eventually became Chicago, the place that Oprah has made her home.
These cases, if accepted, show that individuals can change race from one incarnation to another. They also demonstrate that souls exhibit similar facial features, passions and talents from one incarnation to another. The observation that people have similar facial features from one incarnation to another has been made by many researchers, including Ian Stevenson, MD, at the University of Virginia. Further, the very important case of Anne Frank/Barbro Karlen demonstrates that religion, nationality and ethnic affiliation can change from one lifetime to another. Imagine how much more peaceful the world would be if we all realized that identification with one’s particular race, nationality, sect or religion is just a temporary one. What if we all realized that we are universal souls that can change such affiliations from one incarnation to another?

Lyman Trumbull was born in Connecticut in 1813 and after law school he moved to Illinois in the 1830s, where he set up a practice. Trumbull fought slavery throughout his life and he represented African American slaves many times against slave owners. He often represented slaves without any expectation of being paid.
